E-Learning Technical Producer

Job Summary

The E-Learning Technical Producer produces web based learning objects, online courses, patient simulation cases and interactive multimedia learning materials. This position will assist in the development of the E-Learning web applications including wire framing, layout design, and selection and testing of software tools. Furthermore, the position will provide technical support of online continuing medical education and the transition of products into the new LMS/CMS, Digital Asset Management systems, as well as user centric suggestions for content and delivery methodology.

The job requires significant skills in HTML, CSS, Java Script, Action Scripting, PHP, relational databases, multimedia processing and tools such as Flash, Dreamweaver, Premiere, Photoshop, Captivate, XML, and video and audio editing.

The E-Learning Technical Producer will recommend new technical approaches to online content development in order to enable the Academy to simultaneously create e-learning and knowledge-on-demand content.  This effort will revolutionize the member’s continuing education, preparation for re/certification, and performance support to be used in every day practice. This position reports to the Manager, E-Learning.

Responsibilities

Online Courses Development
  • Code courses, cases, knowledge-on-demand items to be delivered via a Learning Management System. (Skills: instructional technology, computer programming, multimedia web design and production).
  • Provide advice in the production of web casts or streaming presentations. (skills: page layout design, multimedia processing with Flash, Action Scripting, PowerPoint).
  • Interface with quality control staff regarding submitted products including but not limited to Current Insight, Courses, and Cases. (skills: page design, HTML, Java Script, Flash Action Scripting).
E-Learning Web Application
  • Assist the Manager, E-Learning with wire framing, QA, and other duties related with E-Learning application development.
  • Interface with the Information Technology division as needed.
  • Provide feedback regarding the use of open source software. (Skills: XML, PHP, HTML, Java Script, CSS, MySQL, knowledge of web services).
Technical Support
  • Provide technical support to department staff with the CMS, LMS and image library.
  • Assist with content archiving and related tagging. Provide technical recommendations regarding archiving and tagging approaches (skills: Digital Asset Management, XML, multimedia editing, relational databases).
Other
  • Other assignments including but not limited to video and audio editing for DVD and podcast production.
Skills and Requirements
  • 1-2+ years of hands-on experience producing E-learning courses.
  • 3+ years of multimedia development using a variety of technologies.
  • 1-2+ years of experience using web services and web applications.
  • Expert skill level with interactive multimedia skills (Photoshop, Flash, Action Scripting, Captivate), utilizing and adapting LMS, HTML, CSS, DVD production (video editing using Final Cut or Premiere), and CD and podcast production (audio editing).
  • Intermediate skill level with utilizing and adapting CMS, storyboarding, wire framing and Java script.
  • Working knowledge of PHP, XML content including DTDs and style sheets, Relational Databases (MySQL and administration), Information architecture, E-learning standards technical specifications and support (SCORM/IMS).
  • Experience managing databases for learning content, knowledge management and image archives.
  • Prefer experience with E-learning software such as Captivate or Articulate.
  • Prefer experience with Digital Asset Management systems.
  • Ability to provide technical support to department staff.
  • Ability to produce with tight deadlines (Technical project management).
  • Familiarity with project management processes and tools.
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Multimedia or related field.
